Demo Week 1 DONE!

A lot of crazy things have happened this week that I just was not expecting.

Master bathroom- They lifted up the princess pink bathtub, and what did they find? The builder of the house did not close off the outside to the inside and the entire bathtub was aligned with peanut shells. EKKKKK

Thats not the only thing that went wrong. After removing the hallway shower, they stepped on the flooring and fell through.. Yes.. they dropped to the dirt. The contractor said it was just a matter of time that it would have fallen through when someone was using it.. creepy.

I ripped out this closet. I am so happy!!

DAY 1: DEMO

Today was the first day of demo! Boy.. am I tired!

The day started off kinda crazy because I could not get the cat into her case. She is going to be at the kitty hotel during this renovation, but before that could happen, I have to get her out of the house. It took me about 20 minutes to calm her down to pick her up.. then she would not get into the box.. jumped right out.. After running around the room for another 10 minutes, the contractor got involved. We cornered her with sofas and right when we got her.. POOF she was gone.. Totally disapeared!

SHE WAS HIDING INSIDE THE RECLINER!!

I do not even know how she got into the chair.. but she did! I literally had to cut her out of the chair. Good thing I was trashing them anyways.. How CRAZY! I will defiantly not forget that!!

Besides the cat.. everything went great. I could not be more excited for this renovation!!

Day 1: Successful!! except for the cat!

DIY: New Looks For Old Frames

I found this fantastic painting at GoodWill a few weeks ago. Although the frame was chipping, I was very excited about this paints! Its by an artist names James Mills. He is a artist from Wales who had his first art show at the age of 100!! What an amazing painting, and a even more amazing story. What an exciting find!

I decided to give the frame a little face lift.. but not all projects go the way I plan. I think there might be some needed changes on this project.

Next attempt: Blacking out the other inside trim.. and perhaps distressing the bamboo... again!
YES turning it back to its original style.. haha

DIY: Paint Chip Art

Warning: To not get kicked out of the store... I recommend picking up paint chips overtime, whenever you are ALREADY at a home store, and saving them..

OK so I have been seeing on Pinterest awesome paint chip DIY for some time now. I thought it would be neat to do my own. I found some frames in my garage, and for the next 3 weeks, every time I would go into my neighborhood home improvement store, I would take about 15 paint chips (remember.. not recommended)

Treasure Hunt: Dresser

Today I found the most amazing dresser by Pierson & Sons. I have yet to find a dresser I liked that was under $600. TILL NOW! It was selling on CL for $100. I called the man right away and headed down to Aliso. I could not believe he was selling this fantastic dresser for such a low price. I asked him where he got the dresser and he told me at a estate sale. I am guessing he get an amazing deal and was going to restore it himself, but did not have the time. The kicker is, I did not even need to bargain with the guy, he did it for me. When talking in his driveway he lowered the price! $80. What!! From the looks of things it seems like his family was moving, and he was just looking for a quick clean up. What a great find! A quick stain job and this dresser is PERFECT!
